The Illinois Broadcasters Association (IBA) celebrated broadcasting excellence at their annual Silver Dome Awards on Tuesday, October 8th. The event took place at Illinois State University’s Bone Student Center, bringing together the state’s top broadcasting talents.
The Silver Dome Awards are a hallmark of recognition, celebrating the “Best of the Best” in Illinois broadcasting. This year, the award for Best Radio Play-by-Play was once again presented to the team from Sports Radio 92.3 FM/1450 AM (WFMB-AM). Chris McCloud, Steve Bridge, and Mike Chamness were honored for their commentary on the game between Rochester and Murphysboro last season.
Woodward Community Media’s Springfield team also won the Best Radio Station Use of Non-Broadcast Media for the video series “Eating Around the 217” with Josh Roberts and produced by Kyle Hutchinson. The Springfield team also garnered several finalist nods including:
Best Radio Humorous Commercial: Adam Hawkins
Best Radio Local Broadcast Team: John & Leah, New Country Mornings (WFMB-FM)
Best Radio Stations Community Service: St. Jude Country Cares Radiothon (WFMB-FM)
Best Radio Station Use of Non-Broadcast Media: 217 Tales with John Spalding (WFMB-FM)
