Four Things to Look Forward to in May

We’ve turned the calendar again.  Here are four things to look forward to in May . . .

1.  In sports:  The NBA and NHL playoffs continue.  The Kentucky Derby is this Saturday, then the Preakness on May 18th.  The PGA Championship starts May 16th.  The French Open starts on the 20th.  Soccer’s F.A. Cup Final in London is the 25th.  And the Indy 500 is May 26th.

 

2.  In movies:  Jerry Seinfeld’s Pop-Tart flick “Unfrosted” hits Netflix on Thursday . . . “The Fall Guy” with Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt opens Friday . . .“Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” arrives a week later, along with the Amy Winehouse biopic “Back to Black” . . . John Krasinski’s kids’ movie “IF” hits theaters the 17th . . . the new “Garfield” movie with Chris Pratt opens wide on May 24th, along with “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” . . . and “Jim Henson: Idea Man” hits Disney+ the 31st.

 

3.  On TV:  “Welcome to Wrexham” returns tomorrow . . . “The Roast of Tom Brady” hits Netflix on Sunday . . . “Doctor Who” returns on Disney+ the 10th . . . “Bridgerton” is back on the 16th . . . and “America’s Got Talent” returns on the 28th.

 

4.  And finally, the holidays:   The big ones are Cinco de Mayo this Sunday. . . Mother’s Day on the 12th . . . and Memorial Day on the 27th.

But also Star Wars Day this Saturday . . . Teacher Appreciation Day is on the 7th . . . National Eat What You Want Day on the 11th . . . National Mimosa Day on the 16th . . . Armed Forces Day the 18th . . . and National Hamburger Day is May 28th.
